Mark van Gorder for Supervisor

Napa County District 2

Hello, and welcome to my website.

I am a candidate for Napa County Supervisor, District 2. As your elected representative and father of two young children, I will preserve Napa’s open space and water resources; support local job creation; seek new businesses to move to Napa; fight for sustainable planning and encourage affordable housing.

Over the past seven years I have worked diligently to serve Napa residents on the Napa City Council. And, during that time I have established a record of working for the best interests of Napa City and County residents alike.

For nearly 15 years I have worked in the wine industry sectors of winegrowing, public relations, direct to consumer sales and marketing, events and hospitality.  I am the father of two children.  Our oldest, Aelyn, attends West Park Elementary.  Our youngest, Kelsie, spends time at home once a week with her great-grandmother. We know well the issues facing seniors today. When Kelsie is not at home she goes to Wine Country Daycare - which is excellent if you are looking for child care.  As your County Supervisor I will represent working people throughout the county and support families and seniors not as a"politician" but from my personal daily experiences.

Your support is very important to me, so please do not hesitate to contact me or share your view if you have any questions about my campaign or would like to get involved. I appreciate your interest and support.

Sincerely,

Mark van Gorder

Thanks to Mayor, Councilmembers That Voted for Memorial Flexibility Thanks to the strong and professional leadership and support of Mayor Jill Techel and the creative wording by Councilman Mark van Gorder, they produced a motion that gives Alyssa and her team (including veteran's) the choice to place the monument where the fish resides or explore and propose an alternate location. This was a 3-2 vote with Mayor Techel, and van Gorder and James Krider voting for this motion. more...

Council Supports Military Memorial Councilman Mark van Gorder said he would like to see the memorial placed in a spot where it could be expanded to include service men and women killed in other wars, but said DeBenedetti's words resonated with him. "We take the service that people have given and the lives that have been lost and the impact on the families very seriously," van Gorder said. "If everybody here feels that that is the single best place to put this memorial, that’s OK by me." more...

The whens, whys and hows of city road repair If you're like us, you're deeply concerned with the terrible condition of the roads in Napa, and have been for some time. We've been asked by a number of people why certain streets are paved when others that may be equally bad are not. We've held conversations with the Public Works Department and wrote this letter to address frequently asked questions about roads and sidewalks in Napa. more...
